Community Education

SCF offers a wide range of educational opportunities to encourage people to learn about their food, including how to grow, harvest and cook it. It is our goal to build resiliency in our communities, to encourage environmental stewardship, and to enable people of all income levels to better feed themselves and their families.

Farm Tours

Farm tours are an opportunity to learn how our farms increase food access, improve health, and serve as a hub for building community resiliency.

Neighbors, gardening enthusiasts, families, college classes & groups, and anyone interested in understanding more about urban farming, sustainability, and how they can participate in community building, are encouraged to schedule a one-hour tour for a suggested donation of $10/person.

Farm Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering gives community members the opportunity to work alongside our farmers and gain valuable skills related to growing food in a community setting.

We host regular weekly volunteer days, as well as special volunteer events throughout the season. Volunteers, be they experienced gardeners or those looking to learn more about farming and SCF programs, are encouraged to attend. All ages are welcome! We also have a variety of volunteer opportunities for people interested in learning more about working in the non-profit sector.

Workshops & Cooking Classes

We have collaborated with a variety of groups and individuals throughout the years to offer workshops on topics related to urban agriculture, healthy cooking, and sustainable living in the city. The goal of these workshops is to bring community members together in a learning environment that promotes community food security, proper care of the land, and helps people build the skills needed to grow their own food.

Sprout City Farms also coordinates a variety of cooking demonstrations throughout the season that occur during CSA pickup and community farm stand days. We have partnered with Slow Food Denver, Cooking Matters, Nutrition Therapy Institute, Johnson & Wales University, and private chefs to coordinate cooking demos, cooking classes, and recipe tastings.

Let us know if you would like to volunteer to teach a class or workshop!
